Study Abroad Program Description
As an intensive Spanish language course designed for advanced level students (45 additional hours of instruction), this program can be completed on its own as a two-week course or as an added component to the semester program at the WorldStrides Global Campus in Seville. Students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (six quarters) of college-level Spanish. The course is taught at the global campus.
You have the option of participating in a four to five day welcome trip/excursion in Madrid & Toledo for an additional cost. Please note that choosing this option will alter the dates of your program and your arrival city. Please contact your Program Manager for more details prior to the final forms & payment due date for your program. If you are adding this two-week language intensive course to a pre-existing semester or year-long Seville program, you will have this welcome trip included in your program price and are required to attend.

Comprehensive Advising and Support
A team of helpful ISA staff members is here to support you through the entire study abroad process, from finding the perfect program through re-entry. The Program Advisors will help you choose your program based on your unique objectives. Once you’ve selected your program, you will work with your Program Manager on the application process as well as pre-departure forms and finances. Your Program Manager will also assist with academics, housing, visas, and city-living/cultural guidance.
In addition to individual advising, you will receive virtual resources to help prepare you for your time abroad. This includes the ISA Student Portal, which houses your program application, pre-departure forms/resources, and the online orientation. The online orientation is a pre-cursor to the on-site orientations and offers city-specific resources about living in your host city, communication, packing, diversity abroad, how to be academically successful, and more.
24-Hour Emergency
24-Hour Emergency
The ISA Health, Safety, and Security team facilitates an in-house on-call system with a U.S.-based employee and manager who are on-call and available in case of emergency 24-7. ISA regular office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00am - 7:00pm and Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm Central Time.
If you are a parent or student needing assistance in an emergency situation outside of the regular office hours, please call the ISA office at 512-480-8522 to access the ISA emergency contact information for that particular week. Students who experience an emergency while abroad will also have access to on-site staff 24-hour emergency assistance.

Health, Safety, and Security (HSS) for ISA students is jointly managed by our resident staff and HSS team. This team works to monitor risk at program locations, respond to any crises that may arise, and develop policies to further ensure the health, safety, and security of students abroad with ISA.

Tuition and administrative fees at the host university are included in the program price. Classes are held at the host university and are taught by local and/or visiting faculty. Some classes will have additional fees that are not included in the program price.

Housing
Housing is guaranteed and included in the price of all ISA programs, with the exception of Pacific programs, in which housing is offered at an additional cost. Accommodation options will vary according to program site and session. ISA Discovery Model
ISA Discovery Model
ISA programs facilitate learning and development through co-curricular activities. We rely on host universities to provide quality instruction in the classroom, but ISA is the main facilitator of learning outside of the classroom. Efforts to promote student learning are shaped by a teaching and learning framework we call the ISA Discovery Model.
According to this model, student learning and development is organized into five areas of discovery: 1. Intercultural, 2. Historical, 3. Sociopolitical, 4. Professional and 5. Environmental
Throughout the duration of your ISA program, we provide you with the opportunity to pursue these five areas of discovery through the Bridging Cultures Orientation, excursions, cultural activities, and references to non-ISA sponsored events and opportunities.
Insurance
Insurance
A Blanket Accident and Sickness Policy is included in the program and covers you during the official on-site period of the program. This is not an optional benefit; every ISA participant will be covered by this policy. A full description of coverage can be found on the ISA website.
We recommend that you maintain comprehensive health insurance while abroad. This is particularly important if you have any pre-existing conditions but is also beneficial if you have an injury or illness while abroad and require further treatment upon your return home. Please be sure to consult with your current insurance provider to confirm coverage policies while traveling abroad.
Official Transcript from the Host University
Official Transcript from the Host University
Upon completion of the ISA program, your host university will issue an official transcript with all coursework taken abroad. ISA's Academic Records Department will process and forward the official transcript to the appropriate office at your home university, and a photocopy will be sent to your permanent home address for your records. ISA will provide a cover letter to accompany the transcript with important academic information, including the host university's grading system and recommended U.S. letter grade equivalencies, translated course titles, and credit conversion recommendations.

The Professional Development Toolbox, available in the online orientation section of the student portal, will help you identify the skills and key competencies you have developed through your personal, academic, and cultural experiences. This toolbox helps you to articulate the transferable skills developed through study abroad in a way that shows potential employers or post-graduate universities the benefits our you will provide them as a direct result of your experience abroad.
Full-Time Resident Staff
Full-Time Resident Staff
The full-time resident staff is available to assist you with all aspects of your experience abroad. The resident staff provides support during official course registration and arranges the Bridging Cultures Program orientation, excursions, weekly meetings, cultural activities, and much more. Staff members are trained to ensure the well-being of each program participant and are dedicated to facilitating a positive and meaningful study abroad experience.

Fernanda's deep passion for diverse cultures inspires her to find innovative ways to celebrate cultural diversity through teaching. She is dedicated to empowering students to continue learning and exploring the world. Excited to join ISA, Fernanda looks forward to guiding students through their academic journeys. María Jesús Rubio Amador was born and raised in the city she loves most, Sevilla. She earned a degree in Business Management of Tourism and a graduate degree in Hotel Management from the University of Sevilla. María then moved to Dublin, Ireland to follow her passion for learning about different cultures and a desire to improve her English. She loves meeting new people from all over the world. María Jesús joined ISA in 2007 and offers her enthusiasm and cheerful personality to ISA students in Sevilla.

Carmen María Parra Barragán is a native of Sevilla. She earned a degree in English Philology from the University of Sevilla and worked as an English teacher for many years. Carmen's interest in foreign literature and film has led her to study other cultures and have a passion for traveling. She loves meeting new people and working with students. Carmen joined ISA in 2007 and brings her energy and out-going personality to ISA Sevilla.

As a child in Salamanca, Spain, Enrique, known as Quique by his friends and family, dreamed of becoming a soccer star, but sensibly studied Humanities at the University of Salamanca. He went on to work for the University guiding tours and excursions for study abroad students. His natural people skills and love of passing on his knowledge of Spanish history and culture turned this job into a career, leading him to move to Seville beginning his work with ISA in 2001. After several years, he became Resident Director yet still continues to feel passionate about his work and the new challenges he faces, while still enjoying a bit of soccer through his children.

Originally from Seville, Spain, Fran is an all-rounder in technology, and has IT studies in Systems Administration. Fran enjoys his work and is always willing to help people. From a very early age, he felt that he had a knack for new technology, which led him to later create a large online community devoted to smartphones and tablets (Htcspain). He was fortunate to join the IT department at ISA in 2013 and is grateful for the amazing colleagues on the team, whom he knows can always rely on to help provide the best support and attention to students and other ISA employees. His hobbies include going to the gym, the beach, riding his bike, reading technical books, and spending time with his family and friends

Born and raised in Seville, Manolo graduated from the University of Seville with a Bachelor´s in Labor Relations and 3 Master´s in Labor Health and Safety. He began working for ISA Sevilla during the summer of 2002. He likes travel and meet new people from other cultures. He has visited the US, Canada, Morocco, and several other countries in Europe. He finds study abroad to be one of the best ways to contribute to personal growth and loves being a part of that for his students. His love and passion for Spain, and especially Sevilla, allows him to enthusiastically teach students about its culture, traditions, and history. In his spare time, he likes playing sports and spending time with his family/friends.

Pedro José Pérez, a Salamanca native, graduated from the University of Salamanca, where he majored in Spanish. He then moved to London to teach Spanish to clients in the Economic Sector. After working in several countries, Pedro returned to Salamanca and continued studying to obtain his MA in Spanish Instruction for foreigners. He taught Spanish at Cursos Internacionales of the University of Salamanca and then moved to Sevilla. He began working for ISA as a teacher and assistant in the summer of 2002 but has been the Academic Director at the Study Center in Sevilla since 2013. He looks forward to receiving each group of students in every term with enthusiasm and interest.

Born in Zafra, she moved with her family to Sevilla when she was 10 years old, so therefore considers herself a sevillana. Her passion to learn languages and cultures led her to seek a degree in Travel & Tourism from the University of Sevilla. She also did several summer study abroad programs in different places in the UK to improve her English language skills. After graduating, she moved to Cologne in Germany where she spent almost 2 years. Upon returning to Spain she worked as an event planner in a few different hotels, joining ISA in 2011. Sara loves the beach, cooking and discovering new restaurants or tapas bars in her city, and loves to share good recommendations with students anytime!

Marina López was born in Cádiz and raised in Sevilla since an early age. She did her study abroad in Poland during her studies of Architecture in Universidad de Sevilla. It was while that life-changing experience that she confirmed her suspicions: she had developed a great passion for multiculturalism, traveling and everything related to cultures. She felt grateful when she had the chance to join ISA in 2013. After more than four years in the Barcelona office, she moved to the Netherlands as the Resident Director of ISA Amsterdam. After ten enriching years out of her hometown, she is back in Sevilla as part of the Sevilla office and re-discovering the city with fresh eyes. She loves exploring the world, trying new restaurants, attending concerts, reading, listening to podcasts, creativity and being in the nature.

Tamara Roldán is a native-born Sevillana, and raised in Alcalá de Guadaira. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Language and a Master’s degree in Hotel Management from the Universidad de Sevilla. She worked as a summer camp counselor as well as a Spanish teacher in the U.S. for a couple summers, both of which proved to be rewarding experiences for her. After graduation, Tamara was working as an English teacher in Language Academies and high schools in Sevilla. She enjoys learning about other cultures, good coffee, and she loves traveling, spending time with friends/ family and practicing Pilates. She has been with ISA since 2004 and is always excited to share her passion for Sevilla and the Spanish culture with ISA students.

Funding
All students should have the opportunity to study abroad. To help make this a reality, ISA offers a variety of scholarships to help cover your study abroad costs. To learn more about our scholarship opportunities, check out our scholarships & grants page!
If you receive financial aid from your home university, you can likely use those funds for study abroad, as well. Speak with your home university’s financial aid office to learn about your options. Check out steps for using financial aid.

Housing
Studying abroad in Spain will allow you the opportunity to indulge into aspects of the Spanish lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor of Spain. Depending on your housing option, you will either be within walking distance to your university or conveniently located near public transit routes. Travel times to the various university buildings (with the exception of the UPO) generally range between 15 and 40 minutes depending on housing and class locations. With an open and adaptable mind, the experience of living in another culture can be highly rewarding.
We strive to match your housing choices with our available accommodations, however, housing preference requests cannot be guaranteed.
Homestay
Host families are a great choice if you are seeking full linguistic and cultural immersion during your time abroad. Each host family has been carefully selected by ISA’s resident staff in order to best accommodate your needs and to ensure a comfortable situation. Homestays will provide three meals a day and laundry service once a week. You will typically share a room with another ISA student of the same legal gender. Single rooms may be available for an additional fee.
Independent Housing
You may elect to secure housing independently. If you select this option, you will receive a discount equal to the housing portion of the program price.
